Polyvine Metal Leaf Size - Acrylic Adhesive is a water based size suitable for interior gilding which can be used with all types of metal (brass), aluminium and copper leaf.

Drying time will depend on the surrounding conditions. If it's cold, it will take longer to reach a dry tack and then fully dry. If its hot, it may dry quicker and not remain open as long as desired. Coverage is 10-15 square metres per litre.

Application: Seal porous surfaces with a Polyvine varnish and apply in a thin even coat with a good quality brush so that there is no pooling or excess sitting on the surface. Once applied it should reach a dry tack (similar to sellotape) in around 15 minutes and then it is in its prime state to be gilded on. The size will remain "open" and take leaf for a further 24 hours. Only apply the size to areas you want to gild and allow as long as possible for the size to cure fully before handling the gilded item.
